The Truth About Black Maternal Health
Maternal Mortality Rates (per 100,000 Live Births)

Note: The maternal mortality rate for Black women is significantly higher than other racial groups.
Infant Mortality Rates (per 100,000 Live Births)

Note: The infant mortality rate for Black infants is more than double that of White infants.
According to www.cdc.gov. Black women in the United States face significant maternal health disparities, being approximately 3.5 times more likely to die from pregnacy-related causes than White women. Alarmingly, over 80% of maternal deaths in the U.S. are considered preventable. Prematurity and low birth weight ( leading causes of infant death ) occur at significantly higher rates among Black mothers, further contributing to poor outcomes. Chronic health conditions, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, are also more prevalent among Black women, increasing the risks associated with pregnacy. Additionally, limited access to care in rural areas and maternity care deserts, particularly in the South, affects people of all races but disproportionately worsens outcomes for Black women.
Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics flood Black communities, while fertility clinics are placed all over White neighborhoods, exposing a clear, ugly double standard in reproductive care. Black women face higher maternal death rates, moe pregnacy risks, AND LESS ACCESS to quality care. This isn't just a coincidence. It is a system designed to control and neglet Black lives while offering better care and options to White communities.
